Ville d’Uzès Official WebsitePont du Gard– Visit the 2000 year old aqueduct bridge, built by the Romans to bring water from Uzes to Nîmes. It was added to UNESCO’s list of world heritage sites in 1985.
Promo Vinum– The secrets of provençal cuisine in English or French, taught by chef Joe McLean. Classes include a market tour and instruction in the clients’ holiday rental home. (Incumbent on having a suitably sized kitchen.) Joe also does guided wine tours.
Peta Mathis– Half day culinary workshops in Uzès on Wednesdays or Saturdays during the summer months led by this vivacious New Zealand chef. Classes are held at clients holiday residence or at a private kitchen in Uzès. Guaranteed to be informative and fun!
Anthony Mission Cuisine– Learn how to make macarons, sweet or salty cookies, cupcakes and so much more in this state-of-the-art kitchen, located in Uzes. Check out his website to see the comment by all the happy participants. Classes held year round.
Markets
Uzès – The Uzès market is held all year, on Saturday mornings and Wednesday mornings. The Saturday market has food, clothes, jewelry, fabrics and more. The Wednesday market is mostly a farmers market with local produce.
St. Quentin la Potèrie – The St. Quentin market is held all year, on Friday mornings and Tuesday mornings. The Friday market has food, clothes, jewelry, fabrics and more, but it is not near as complete as the Uzès market. The Tuesday market is an organic, farmers market with a few vendors. The St. Quentin markets are much easier access than Uzès and less busy. The products tend to be less expensive as well.
Night Markets (July & August only)- These markets are held in the villages surrounding Uzès every Wednesday and Friday in July and August. There is food, wine, music, arts & crafts. Everything that is sold has to be made locally. A guaranteed good time!
Uzès Christmas Market – Local shops set up market stands as well as other vendors. You can find arts & crafts, clothing & jewelry, food & wine. Music and fun activities for children. Held in the Place aux Herbes every third weekend in December.
Day Trips
Avignon – Avignon is a great day trip to visit the historical city, shop or dine. The annual Festival d’Avignon (Performing Arts & Theater Festival) is held every July and brings visitors from around the world.
Nîmes– Nîmes is also a fun day trip to visit the Arènes de Nîmes or Maison Carré. The Arène holds concerts and bull fights during the summer months.
Camargue & Mediterranean Beaches– The Camargue is about an hour south of Uzès and is where the locals go to the beach. It has 75km of sandy beaches with dunes, some more isolated than others. As a conservation area, the Camargue has a wide variety of animals and plants. Visitors can enjoy seeing the bulls, horses, birds and famed flamingos that have come to symbolise the region.
Provence– There are so many beautiful villages in Provence that you will most likely need to make a couple daytrips to see it all. A few of the ‘musts’: Gordes and it’s incredible views, Roussillon and it’s Conservatory of Ocre and Color, Le Baux de Provence and it’s ancient history, St Remy de Provence and Van Gogh’s Hospital, Isle sur la Sorgue and it’s antique shops, Les Alpilles Mountains.
Haribo Candy Museum– The famous Haribo Candy Factory and Boutique is always a must see for the children. You can visit the museum, but it’s a bit disappointing. If you skip the museum, don’t miss the candy shop where you can find large quantities of colorful bonbons at factory prices. Warning: The lines are hours long to get into the museum during the summer months.
Vallée de L’Eure – Remains of the water regulation basin of the Roman aqueduct from Uzes to Nîmes. Open green space for playing sports, small river for feeding ducks. Free access.
Green Park– About 20 minutes from Uzès is a family park with farm animals, large sand boxes, trampolines, corn mazes and more.
Seaquarium– An aquarium near the Mediterranean Sea, which is approximately an hour south of Uzès. Other activities, such as a mini golf and water park near by.
Grotte de Cocalière– One of France’s 3 most beautiful underground caves, between the Cèvennes and Ardèche. You will be amazed by the beauty of the limestone formations and natural pools. This is a good day trip for the entire family.

Sport & Activities
Hot Air Ballooning – The countryside is incredibly beautiful when driving in the Gard region, but can you imagine the views from the sky?! This is a special excursion for a once in a lifetime experience.
Canoeing:
Gardon River – Canoeing down the Gardon River can be quite refreshing in the hot summer months, but the best part of this outing is canoeing right under the Pont du Gard. The river is 10 minutes from Uzès and can be very busy in July & August.
Gorges de l’Ardèche & River – The Gorges de l’Ardèche are beautiful canyons on either side of the Ardèche River. There are panoramic views along the roads following the river, if you prefer not to canoe. Warning to those who get car sick!
Bicycling– Great bike shop for rentals or repair. Located just minutes from Uzès in St Quentin la Potèrie.
Écurie Font Clarette – Visit the gorgeous countryside in a horse drawn buggy. Possibility to stop for a wine tasting or picnic prepared by a local chef.
Uzès Public Pool– Uzès’s only public pool was renovated in 2013. Great way to keep cool during the hot summer months.
